Michael D. McDonald is a senior director for business development for Qualcomm Cyber Security (QCSS) Solutions responsible for assisting United States Government organizations develop and sustain business relationships with QCSS leading to operationally oriented strategies, architectures, and solutions. With more than 36 years of military, information technology and business experience, Michael is a strong advocate for applying information technology (IT), networking innovation, and best practices to solve Public Sector information challenges improving mission effectiveness and efficiency.


Michael ‘Mac’ McDonald assumed his current position in October 2016 having concluded eight years with Cisco Systems, Inc. as the senior executive responsible for building strategic and tactical relationships and business opportunities with the Headquarters, Department of Defense; the Defense Agency community; and the US Air Force, with specific emphasis on leading, directing, and synchronizing sales efforts in support of the emerging Joint Information Environment, (the DoD’s effort to define, architect, evolve, and expand the information infrastructure supporting National Defense) for Cisco Systems, Inc. Sales exceeded $465M.


Prior to joining Cisco, Mac was responsible for driving enhancements in public safety and first responder cellular-based communications and services with Qualcomm, Inc. Mac is a retired Air Force officer having served as the commander of the White House Communications Agency, The 86th Communications Group, the 27th Communications Squadron, the DISA Information Systems Center, and in numerous staff positions at Headquarters Air Force, Major Command, and tactical communications units. Mac holds Masters of Science degrees in National Resource Strategy from National Defense University and in Human Resource Development and Management from Chapman University, in addition to a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from George Mason University as well as completion of National Defense University’s Information Strategies Concentration Program.
