Neville Pattinson is the Senior Vice President for Federal Government Sales at Gemalto, Inc. based in Austin, TX. Within that role he constantly evangelizes the need to move to secure digital identity solutions to protect US Citizen’s identity and privacy.

Mr. Pattinson is a leading expert and thought leader on digital security identity solutions such as smart cards, electronic passports, biometric technologies and mobile identity, to keep identity credentials secure, private and trusted.  

Heavily involved in leading the policy, planning and implementation of a number of federal government security initiatives, Mr. Pattinson’s experience includes the Department of Defense Common Access Card (CAC); Homeland Security Presidential Directive -12 (HSPD-12), Federal Identity Processing Standard 201 and the Personal Identity Verification (PIV) Federal Employee credentialing program.

Mr. Pattinson leads the effort to ensure the best security and privacy protections were implemented in the US ePassport from its introduction in 2006.

Mr. Pattinson was consulted as part of the White House formation of the National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace (NSTIC), and has served for five years on the Management Board of NSTIC’s Identity Ecosystem Steering Group (IDESG).

Mr. Pattinson is a founding Board Member of the Secure ID Coalition, an organization advocating for the use of technology solutions that enable strong identity and privacy protections for U.S. citizens. These include upgrading the Medicare Card to address fraud; upgrading the Social Security Card to simplify and strengthen interactions with eVerify; upgrading State-issued Driver’s Licenses by making IDs securely available on mobile devices for increased usability and convenience, as well as pressing the need for trusted citizen identity for eGovernment interactions.

Mr. Pattinson has recently served as a Commissioner on TechAmerica Foundation’s Technology Convergence Commission tasked to proactively provide recommendations to the U.S. federal government on the convergence of social, mobile, analytics, and cloud (SMAC), and its ability to improve efficiency, services and capabilities while driving innovation and the economy.

Mr. Pattinson previously served as the Chairman and Technology Vice-Chair of the Secure Technology Alliance, and is active within several other associations such as AAMVA, ACI-NA, AAAE, IBIA, INCITS, IAPP and University of Texas’ Center for Identity.

In his capacity as a well-known privacy advocate, Mr. Pattinson was privileged to serve a five-year term (2006-2011) appointed by Secretary Chertoff, as a Special Government Employee to the Department of Homeland Security’s ‘Data Privacy and Integrity Advisory Committee’ (DPIAC).
